HEADSHOT How I Survive With PostTraumatic Stress Disorder edition by Mark Freimark Health Fitness Dieting eBooks
Raw and highly personal, HEADSHOT describes how Arizona police officer Mark Freimark ended up staring point-blank into the barrel of a gun as an angry, mentally disturbed shooter fired into his face.Although the hurried selection of bullets spared the officer’s life — the crazed shooter grabbed a handful of bullets in a dark bedroom to load the gun and ended up inserting a blank in one chamber — the trauma still was severe.
Horrified by the shooting deaths of two highway patrol officers the same day magnified the fact that Freimark was the lucky one, yet it prompted feelings of guilt that he had survived.
HEADSHOT follows the officer through the required departmental investigation, questioning of his actions, denial of workers compensation benefits, multiple attempts to get treatment, and the unsurprising emergence of, at last, a diagnosis of and treatment for post-traumatic-stress disorder.
PTSD isn’t solely the result of military service, although Freimark served in the Air Force for over a decade, including time in Saudi Arabia and in Operation Desert Storm.
And it doesn't affect just the victim; it affects spouses, family members, friends and co-workers. Nightmares still haunt him, and Freimark continues to learn to cope with the adjustments he has had to make: physical, mental, nutritional, pharmacological, spiritual.
He wrote HEADSHOT in hopes that his experience and all he has learned about living with PTSD might help others who have suffered life-changing traumas. It no doubt was painful to write, but his pain might promote understanding and guide others toward treatment and a chance to heal.

HEADSHOT How I Survive With PostTraumatic Stress Disorder edition by Mark Freimark Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Incredible, mind opening! I hope more people that suffer from PTSD on any accord read this book. Well written! Keeps you wanting to read more and more....EXCELLENT!
I couldn't put this book down. I believe Mark fulfilled his goal to shine a light on what PTSD is, what us- those who have never experienced PTSD-do not understand or know. He has an intention to help those who suffer with PTSD with some helpful strategies he himself practices, and also what has not worked. It is a truly amazing, heartbreaking story that one brave man decided to share with the world in order to help others understand they are not alone. It makes me understand more fully the struggles police officers face, and yet again that they are human too- and that we all handle situations differently. I hope readers understand the tough decisions police officers must make every day of duty-within split seconds-and the horrific impact it may have on them. I highly recommend this book.
HEADSHOT details the cruel facts of what PTSD can do to people. Freimark makes a clear direction for those affected with PTSD to seek help and describes ably his efforts at his own healing. It is a chilling book to read and indeed one that you won't put down. This book can be life changing for some people. I can only urge anyone who is suffering with PTSD or knows of someone with it to read this book. Author and Holocaust survivor Victor Frankl wrote,"Everything can be taken from man but one thing the last last of human freedoms to choose one's way". Freimark makes Frankl's assertion a fact that must be faced. PTSD is a living hell, this book needs to be in the hands of so many.
Freimark's lucid details of a horrific event while on patrol as an on duty police officer will leave you breathless, the confusion, the gun fire, the aftermath and then over 12 years of horrific visions, loosing everything except for one and that is to choose meaning in life.
Great book!! I highly recommend it!
I found the author to be brutally honest and describe in detail the events that changed his life. The book was hard to put down and it made me realize the decisions police officers need to make in a split second that would forever change them.
This book is incredible insight to what it is like to live with ptsd. I recommend this book to not only ptsd survivors, but also to any and all family and friends who have loved ones who have survived or are surviving ptsd - and also to those who have lost loved ones due to ptsd.
The detail in the description of the event are incredible. I have never seen such emotion and honesty in a book.
